Avocado oil is pressed from the flesh rather than the seed, and it is the richest carrier oil in this index — thick, deep green, and loaded with vitamins A, D and E along with fatty acids that penetrate further into the skin than lighter oils manage.
That depth is the point. For skin that is merely a bit dry, almond or grape seed is enough. For skin that is cracked, scaly, thickened and has stopped responding to ordinary moisturiser, avocado oil reaches the layers where the damage actually is.
It is heavy and slow to absorb, which makes it an overnight treatment rather than a morning one.
